Women’s Health Services Program

Women’s Health Services Program provides confidential and personalized care to all women, regardless of ability to pay.  Women’s Health Services is able to provide services by applying for grants through Title X Federal Program and the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.  WHS also accepts donations and fees from clients using a sliding fee scale.  Though dwindling, some funds come through Medicaid billing.  The above funds enable participation in the “Show Me Healthy Women” program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and administered through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.  Its goal is to provide breast and cervical screenings to women age 35 and older not having insurance and limited income.  Many health services are provided to women including cancer screenings, clinical breast exams, sexually transmitted disease testing and/or treatment, pregnancy testing and options counseling, education of contraceptive methods with clients deciding on methods, and community education.  Clinics are done at our two permanent locations in Appleton City and Belton and our mobile clinics at the Clinton Christian Church, Bates County Health Department, Vernon County Health Department, and Benton County Health Department. A Harrisonville location is utilized for distribution of contraceptive supplies. The staff consists of a Medical Director, a Nurse Practitioner, a Licensed Practical Nurse, a Clinic Manager, a Billing Technician, a Medical Assistant and for the Belton Clinic: a Clinic Manager, a Spanish Translator, and a Registered Nurse.  There are 15-20 clinics held each month.

Show Me Healthy Women Program

The vision for the Show Me Healthy Women program is to improve the quality of life in Missouri through the cure and elimination of breast and cervical cancers. The program supports quality screening, diagnostic and treatment services in accordance with current medical standards. Our clinics provide, free of charge, pelvic exam and pap smears, clinical breast exams, and if any results are abnormal, we refer patients to diagnostic services.

To be eligible, women must be age 35 and older, not eligible for Medicaid, Medicare or have health coverage, and meet income guidelines. Income eligibility is based on Household Annual Gross Income of 200% above the federal poverty guideline.
